Pre-planning gone wrong! Scheduled Wordpress Posts Failure!

November 17, 2008 by admin

I knew I wouldn’t be able to give much attention to my blog over the past week or so and I really didn’t want to leave a week long gap without writing anything. So, trying to be organised, I pre wrote some posts and scheduled them to launch onto the blog automatically……….

Not sure if anyone noticed, but that definitely didn’t happen!!! Here I come a few days later only to realise that nothing has in fact been posted on site :( So sorry folks, my apologies, but be sure I am here, in person ready to spend this week catching up on some really great stuff!!!

This week I’ll be launching our first competition,…… Writing some really great and inspiring tips for words or less slogan tie breaker competitions, and tracking down some really great competitions for everyone to enter.

Thanks for your patience and I look forward to an exciting week!!

Win a Car Competition with The Wiggles & Target Australia

November 9, 2008 by admin
Filed under Competition Spotlight, Competition Talk

I’m sure if you don’t have kids yourself, then you’ll be able to find a little one who’d appreciate a wiggly gift :)

It’s definately worth it with such amazing prizes to win.

You can go in the draw to Win a Red Volkswagen Beetle or Win 1 of 50 Target $100 Gift Cards Instantly!!

To Enter this competition, you simply need to visit your closest Target Store and purchase any wiggles product.

Then SMS your 11 digit receipt number and Name to 199 33 278

Hint: Read the Full Terms and Conditions for the Target and Wiggles Win a Car Contest Here

T&C State that there is only one prize per person/household. What this means is that if you win an instant win gift voucher then you are not eligible (nor is anyone else in your house) to win the car.

I must say this is one of the very few instant win competitions that I definately don’t want to win (because I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed for the car :P ;)

I’d also advise if you are going to purchase multiple products that you ask for them to be processed individually and get separate receipts. Mainly because you are required to use the receipt number for entry and often these competitions won’t accept the same receipt number more than once to try and eliminate cheating.

Good Luck :)

Winning Competitions - My Past Wins - Pink Motorola Razr Mobile Phone

November 4, 2008 by admin
Filed under My Prize Hobby, Prize wins from the Past

For inspiration, I will try and post at least one of my past wins per week. I’ll tell you what I won, how I won it and any other hints and tips that I can think of at the time

For Today’s blast from the past I’m stepping WWAAAAAYYYYYY back… I may have mentioned this win before, I’m not too sure……

This was one of my first ever wins.

What I won: - A pink Motorola Razr Mobile phone.

How I won it: - From a Radio Contest via sms text message.

What I did: - I had to write something about what pink could do for me to make my day or something along those lines (P!NK was touring at the time) - My winning answer was to “make my husband remember it was mother’s day and buy me something from the kids” it may not be word for word but it was along those lines.

Tips & Hints - I really wanted this prize. I actually entered possibly about 10 different “words or less” answers. A couple were poems and weird things. This is the one that took their fancy. Being creative isn’t just about being “out there” You can definately stand out by using every day events that people would connect with (like a dad forgetting it’s mother’s day)!!

Note: In hubby’s defence he didn’t really forget mother’s day, but I thought it sounded like a pretty funny answer (it was mother’s day that day duh!!) and it worked. If you’re going to bend the truth it’s ok as long as it’s not illegal, immoral or in bad taste (in my opinion anyway). For the sake of fun and creativity, I say go for it.

Top 5 Mistakes When Entering Competitions & Sweepstakes

November 3, 2008 by admin
Filed under winning hints and tips

It’s easy to get carried away when you are excited about the possibility of winning a prize.

Not only that, but there’s generally a stack of rules, terms and conditions that you need to follow and keep in mind for every competition or sweepstake that you enter.

Here are my top 5 mistakes that people make when entering Competitions, Contests and Sweepstakes of all sorts.

1 - Being an ineligible Entrant - This can be because they live in the wrong state, are the wrong age, or may have won from a company previously for example. You always need to read eligibility requirements thoroughly.

2 - Forgetting to Enter - I have done this so many times, hoarded away an entry with good intentions of entering, only to remember the day after the close date. You can’t win if your entry is still sitting there with good intentions, so get those entries in as soon as you can.

3 - Lying - It can be tempting to stretch the truth about eligibility, address details, age or any other number of terms and conditions if you are really eager to win a prize. Those who have tried to do this and failed will surely tell you it’s not worth the risk. These days promoters are much more thorough when checking eligibility. Just stick to the truth and you’ll be fine.

4 - Not keeping Proof Of Purchase - This is quite a big mistake and a common one, many people don’t realise that they are required to keep proof of purchase for most competitions that require a product or service as a qualifier to enter. Find a filing system for all your receipts and other goodies that is easiest for you and stick to it. It would be horrible to lose a major prize for lack of receipts.

5 - Not following entry requirements - It can be as high as 50% of entries are disqualified for not following entry requirement instructions. Don’t let that be you! If a competition says to buy a certain product, keep or send in receipts, use a certain size envelope, then it’s important that you do it! The more determined you are to win, the closer attention you should pay to terms and conditions. Making a small mistake could cost you a big prize!!
