Australian Competition gone wrong - 2Day FM Investigated!

March 3, 2009 by admin

It seems that radio station 2Day FM have caused quite a stir when an radio competition they were running went seriously wrong resulting in police and ambulance officers being called to the scene of a home.

The competition which involved a caller making a prank call for the chance to win $1000 went terribly wrong.

The competitor, a station listener had been given a script by the staff of the radio station, requiring her to convince her sister their mother had fallen over at home, suffering serious injuries. It was at this point that things went wrong!

The listener’s sister panicked and dialled 000 to report the incident.

With 000 operators unaware that the call was in fact part of the prank competition police and ambulance officers were dispatched to the scene only to discover their time had been wasted.

An investigation is to take place regarding the incident.

WOW!!!! Perhaps their needs to be some form of common sense used in cases where these types of incidents could happen… definitely a learning experience for 2Day FM I’m sure!

Competitions, Prizes & New Year’s Resolutions

January 6, 2009 by admin

Well, I’m a few days late to be writing about New Year’s Resolutions, but now is as good time as any hey!!!

There are a few New Year’s Resolutions for Prizetastic and a Few REALLY handy resolutions that anyone who wants to win prizes and create a real hobby out of winning should focus on in 2009, so here goes -

Prizetastic Resolutions -

Must do Resolutions for Anyone who Wants TO WIN PRIZES :)

  • Enter at least one competition a day (There will be at LEAST 7 competitions posted on prizetastic each week so if you only enter those you’ll be sticking to that resolution…. EASY) :)
  • Read terms and conditions thoroughly - It’s a horrible feeling to win and not be awarded the prize due to not being eligible so save the heartbreak and read t&c before entering
  • Get Creative - Prizetastic will be bringing you more tips on how to increase your chances or think outside the box to win creative style competitions and sweepstakes, so take the time and just give creative competitions a go….. who know’s you might just win :)
  • Track entries & Winnings - This isn’t “vital” but it can be handy to keep an eye on what you have and haven’t entered, and especially for 25 word or less answers to note down the competition they were for and the answer. If you strike a winner it’s great to be able to modify it a little and use it again… the same with answers that don’t win, you just never know what judges are looking for!!!

So there you go, it’s a neat little list to focus on for the new year…. I’m actually very excited about this year and what it has to offer… there’s lots happening in our house so it’s looking to be exciting all around..

Good Luck and here’s wishing you a lucky, winning year xxx

Pre-planning gone wrong! Scheduled Wordpress Posts Failure!

November 17, 2008 by admin

I knew I wouldn’t be able to give much attention to my blog over the past week or so and I really didn’t want to leave a week long gap without writing anything. So, trying to be organised, I pre wrote some posts and scheduled them to launch onto the blog automatically……….

Not sure if anyone noticed, but that definitely didn’t happen!!! Here I come a few days later only to realise that nothing has in fact been posted on site :( So sorry folks, my apologies, but be sure I am here, in person ready to spend this week catching up on some really great stuff!!!

This week I’ll be launching our first competition,…… Writing some really great and inspiring tips for words or less slogan tie breaker competitions, and tracking down some really great competitions for everyone to enter.

Thanks for your patience and I look forward to an exciting week!!

Winning Competitions - My Past Wins - Pink Motorola Razr Mobile Phone

November 4, 2008 by admin
Filed under My Prize Hobby, Prize wins from the Past

For inspiration, I will try and post at least one of my past wins per week. I’ll tell you what I won, how I won it and any other hints and tips that I can think of at the time

For Today’s blast from the past I’m stepping WWAAAAAYYYYYY back… I may have mentioned this win before, I’m not too sure……

This was one of my first ever wins.

What I won: - A pink Motorola Razr Mobile phone.

How I won it: - From a Radio Contest via sms text message.

What I did: - I had to write something about what pink could do for me to make my day or something along those lines (P!NK was touring at the time) - My winning answer was to “make my husband remember it was mother’s day and buy me something from the kids” it may not be word for word but it was along those lines.

Tips & Hints - I really wanted this prize. I actually entered possibly about 10 different “words or less” answers. A couple were poems and weird things. This is the one that took their fancy. Being creative isn’t just about being “out there” You can definately stand out by using every day events that people would connect with (like a dad forgetting it’s mother’s day)!!

Note: In hubby’s defence he didn’t really forget mother’s day, but I thought it sounded like a pretty funny answer (it was mother’s day that day duh!!) and it worked. If you’re going to bend the truth it’s ok as long as it’s not illegal, immoral or in bad taste (in my opinion anyway). For the sake of fun and creativity, I say go for it.

Starting from the End

September 10, 2008 by admin

Well, I am back after 3 days of sick children and now with a sick husband and recovering from being sick myself, it’s time to continue my story.

I guess when it comes to winning things, I would love to start right back from the beginning, but that would leave so much to get through so I have decided to do both. I am going to write about my “comping” as I do it today, what I win, what I achieve, the time I dedicate and try and do a few blasts from the past on a regular basis until I have covered most of my prize wins over the last couple of years.

To be honest, there have been a few months this year where I really haven’t been dedicated with entering any competitions. I lost my comping spark and really just couldn’t be bothered.

Snow Hills and Snow Boarding

Thankfully over the last few weeks, the spark has returned and the wins are already starting to roll in. I’ve been dedicating many hours to entering (I’ll talk more about time and dedication in another post) lately, and one competition I entered has won me a snowboard!! Hubby is very excited to say the least.

So here is this weeks prize win, it will arrive in a few weeks………

A Snow Board and bindings valued at $989… Hubby is so happy, something he’s always wanted but we would never really spend the money on buying!!

So What did I have to do to win it?

It was easy…. I had to enter a voting competition with colgate toothpaste… simply upload a picture, add some features from their automated site and then submit it. A few days later I recieved confirmation and voting details.

How to win Voting Competitions? I just made sure to forward the link to my entry all my friends, people on facebook, myspace, as an email attachment….. and voila, I was really lucky to be this weeks winner.

Voting comps take alot of hard work. You need to remember to vote daily, weekly, hourly or whatever timing it is that the terms and conditions allow, as well as gently “prodding” friends and family to be sure to vote for you also. In the end it was worth it, also because I hadn’t entered a voting competition in so long, friends weren’t too annoyed with my hassling them… :D

Well, needless to say, this weeks win has definately motivated me to keep entering…..
